Is that from power off to log in? I’m not as wowed as I expected, but it does look a bit faster.

How come I don’t see this when i turn on my computer and boot Fedora 10?? instead I see a white and blue bar at the bottom of the screen and Fedora 10 in the bottom right corner.

that should be because ure using nvidia or intel card. there driver don’t support kernel mode setting. (well intel does, but I think they have some problem atm). Nvidia won’t support it anytime soon on a side note

So is there any way to fix this other than installing another video card?? What kind of card would be compatible? I’m using my computer’s stock intel card at the moment.

there is a workaround, it brings out the plymouth without using kms.
you open as root /boot/grub/menu.lst and you add at the end of the kernel line : vga=0×343. the last 3 digits (343) depend on the resolution of your screen. if you are unsure type vga=ask instead (at the same place) reboot and you can choose from the list. to make it permanent you edit the file that I mentioned earlier

but if you have an intel card you shouldn’t worry to much. it will come out soon enough and when it does, just remove the vga thingie from the menu.lst

nice, thanks assalane i’m trying it out now! when does the update from intel come out? and is it gonna be in the repos?
