Learn How to Install Ubuntu Linux in 5 Minutes
Posted on 12 March 2010 by Abidoon
A Tutorial: Ubuntu Linux is a completely free open-source operating system that has many useful features and abilities, and this guide will show you how to try this new OS without harming your Windows system, and it only takes five minutes to learn! This guide will show you how to: -Download and burn the Ubuntu image to CD -Shrink the Windows installation to make room for Ubuntu -Boot to the Ubuntu live CD and begin the installation process -A step-by-step description of what options to choose and when during the installation, including how to manually partition Ubuntu on your hard drive This guide was created for Windows Vista (using the disk manager to shrink Windows and make room for Linux) but should work with Windows XP as well as any version where you can shrink the partition through the control panel. This guide was designed for systems with a single hard disk, but may be used on a multiple hard-disk system with minor changes. Well, you and Linktwo have reasonably convinced me. I just worry that any attempt on my part to reset my computer into using Linux would result in some kind of… system wide crash. And then I’d be stuck without a computer for a good two months.
it get easier than this… just run the disk or iso in windows and click the “install within windows” button. fill out password or username info. it will do its thing… restart load ubuntu, simple!
lolololol who you hahahahaha love u comment
Linux requires very little from old computers.
They never crash or give you Blue screen, but they might be a little hard to configure.
Since it’s FREE!!!
It will definitely be worth a try
Check out the websites for more info.
Press Start, then right click on “My Computer” And choose Properties, it should be stated there.
Also, linux is way faster than WIndows, i have 2 computers in the room, one Fijustsu from last summer and a Legend from 2002(FYI the company had to shut down some years later ^^)
So, im running the fijutsu on windows and Linux on the Legend, i boot them up on the same time, Linux is faster to the login screen, and then i log in and start Firefox, Linux is about40 % faster.
Hope that helped
I am not sure if I am doing anything wrong but after install I restart computer and I black screen with the words
Grub loading
Error no such partition
grub rescu>
I have no idea why it is not booting correctly

How do I find out if my computer is 32 bit or 64 bit?
Also, is Linux faster than Windows? I’m currently running XP on a terribly old computer (I think it’s from 2002). I’m planning on getting a new one, but it will be at least 2 months until I can save up enough money.
So in the mean time I want to draw out as much life out of my current comp as I can. And I heard that Linux is just safer/more-stable than Windows.
Any expert Linux-ers out there have advice to give me?
well if your comfortable with piracy then private message me and ill tell you.
How did u get Win7 for free? Please share and how to.
Can you shrink the hard drive by more? What is it doing exactly??
can you install this without a password?
WTF!! linux doesnt seem hard at all,i had no problems whatsoever installing it with this video and with the software center this should be even easier, and when have to use the terminal it cant be that hard to learn,i mean what about back in the day with windows 95 and older when you would use the dos prompt to install and/or run games that was kinda complicated too and we learned to use it didnt we?.i dont have any problems learning new things,im all for it.
cute chick making a software tutorial?!
i guess the world is not coming to an end after all
5/5 starts!!

My computer wont boot windows!!!
Is there a way to install Linux on the recovery screen when you hit F11 key???
Window’s for the show, Linux’s for the pros
@starseigeroks could you send me the link to your version of windows 7 *that is most definately not pirated wink wink nudge nudge* because I’m making a computer and don’t feel like paying $200 for it from m$
@tpiom lol im dual booting ubuntu and a pirated windows 7….I laughed so hard when I was downloading updates from their sites. XD
Love her voice
We don’t want to be M$’s slaves, to be tied by their filthy commands.
Also because they’re better than Windows and IE.
you wouldnt download a car
You have beautiful eyes))
1. If it burns images to disks, then it should, as I use ImgBurn
2. It dual boots, when you boot up your computer, it shows you GRUB, where you choose what you want to use. To switch inbetween, simply restart and choose windows.
3. What..?
I know that you probably got an answer, but I am doing this to double check and help.
Your voice gave me wood
