Just got the CD and wanted to install on laptop .. my only hesitation is that I still want/need to play World of Warcraft …. you guys have any thought on how I can get it to run on the new ubuntu platform?
My friend played counter strike and half life through steam on Ubuntu. But I don’t know if the latest titles work.
can i play steam games through that? and can i run xfire?
Thx to people like you for taking their time to explain things to people like me..Has to be said!
You’re the Bob Ross of Linux..lol
I haven’t tried it yet, but the fact is that applications that run with wine are usually slower that on native OS. But you gain nothing above 35 fps in most games. And considering that wc3 is not a new game there shouldn’t be a problem. Go to winehq and check it out. As far as I have seen it works fine under OpenGl.
Thanks
You can download it from a torrent tracker(I think this is the best option) like mininova or through official Ubuntu site and burn it on CD, or you can order to ship you a free CD through official Ubuntu site.
is it true i loose fps?
hmm do you know if linux will work on a fijitsu siemens amilo li 1705?? ive ordered the disc but i dont know if it will work :S
Warcraft 3 works on Ubuntu through wine. Wine is the compatibility layer program for unix(also Ubuntu) like operating systems. Look for winehq.
First install wine(video shows how). Then install warcraft normally.
how do you get the CD for the ubuntu?
can i still play warcraft with it?
