  2. thisweekinlinux says:

@raket94 probably. have you tried any other games to see if they have sound?

  3. raket94 says:

@thisweekinlinux I tried torchlight but i didn’t get any sound working, does that have to do with the settings in wine or something?

  4. thisweekinlinux says:

@raket94 ah, yes. If you just downloaded the Windows version, it’ll just run in Wine. I’ve played HL2 and Portal in it, and they run ok. Torchlight runs beautifully though!

  5. raket94 says:

@thisweekinlinux No, i just downloaded the regular one from the steam website, i never rightclicked and picked run with wine or anything so i’m not sure if it ran automaticly with wine or something but it worked.

  6. thisweekinlinux says:

@raket94 Was it the sort of leaked version, or were you running it inside of Wine?

  7. raket94 says:

I actually tried installing steam on ubuntu 10:04 and it worked.
It was shitty as hell but it worked and i actually tried playing hl2:ep1 and it kind of worked but it was a bit glitchy so this is really good news

  8. AllAroundBang says:

YES! I always wanted to play HL:S on my Mac, but it’s not PPC. But now, I don’t have to worry about Windows and can play on Linux. Something to look forward to…

  22. thisweekinlinux says:

@TwitterUniQue I run Steam in Wine right now, and it runs very nicely. However, if they made a native version, it would almost certainly run faster and be easier to use.

  23. TwitterUniQue says:

OMG , Steam On Linux But i use WINE , what u think ?

    happy birthday :)

  24. thisweekinlinux says:

@Rundfunk90 Well I’d love to hear back from Valve themselves, but just in case I don’t, I’ve gone ahead and sent out a media contact email to the Telegraph to see if they can confirm their source. The fact that so many media outlets jumped on the Telegraph’s story says a lot, but I’d love to know exactly where it started.

  25. Rundfunk90 says:

@thisweekinlinux Thanks for being honest :) Telegraph is a quite good source, but then again: what is there source? Oh well, can’t wait for more info ;)
